현대자동차 제네시스, 美 내구품질 조사 1위

의제네시스<사진>가 16일(현지시각) 시장조사업체인 제이디파워(J.D.Power)가 발표한2012년 내구품질조사(VDS·Vehicle Dependability Study)에서 벤츠,BMW 등을 누르고 중형 고급차 부문 (Midsize Premium Car) 1위를 차지했다. 내구품질조사는구매 후 3년이 지난 차량을 대상으로 엔진, 변속기, 주행, 조향 등 202개 세부항목에 대해 자동차 100대당 불만건수를 점수화한 것으로 점수가 낮을수록 품질이 높다. 제네시스는 이 조사에서 역대 현대차 차종 중 최고점수인 81점을기록하며, 벤츠 E클래스(83점), BMW 5시리즈(121점) 등을 제치고 1위를 했다. 제네시스와 함께 아반떼도 지난해109점보다 3점이 좋아진 106점으로 동급 17개 차종 중 3위에 올랐다.Hyundai Genesis Tops DependabilityRatings
The Hyundai Genesis beat Mercedes-Benz and BMW in the midsizepremium car category in a 2012 Vehicle Dependability Study resultsreleased by U.S. market researcher J.D. Power on Thursday.
The study is conducted to measure vehicle quality after three yearsof ownership. J.D. Power quantifies reliability in terms of howmany problems turn up per 100 vehicles, with the focus on 202different symptoms across all areas such as the engine,transmission, powertrain, body and interior, and feature andaccessory. The lower the points, the higher the quality.
The Genesis topped the list with 81 points and performed best amongall Hyundai Motors cars ever included in the survey, ahead of theMercedes-Benz E-Class (83 points) and the BMW 5 Series (121points).
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Elantra (Avante in Korea) ranked thirdamong 17 models in the compact car category with 106 points, downthree points from last year.
In the last four years, Hyundais have "achieved consistently stronglevels of dependability," an important element affecting consumerbrand awareness and increasing cars residual value, J.D. Powersaid.
